Local Coordinator – Summer English Language Program

AFS Interculture Canada is looking for you! The Local Coordinator is responsible for the on-site implementation of our Summer English Language program in Halifax or Ottawa. The primary responsibility of the Local Coordinator is to work in tandem with our educational partner Canadian Language Learning College (CLLC) to support our international students during their one month stay in Canada. The Local Coordinator will act as the AFS representative on the ground and be responsible for delivering the day to day aspects of the program.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure students attend all classes and scheduled activities
  • Prepare and facilitate 3 activities/week (cultural, sports, outdoor) for participants
  • Attend all scheduled activities (5 afternoons/week) and one additional day trip
  • Deliver a weekly session based on intercultural education (content provided)
  • Provide support and counselling to hosted students in partnership with CLLC
  • Intervene with logistical issues as they arise
  • Oversee operational budget
  • Attend a one-day training session in advance of the program’s start date
  • Prepare a final report
  • Welcome and drop off students at the airport

Qualifications and Skills

This is a contractual position beginning July 11th 2020 and ending August 8th 2020. Compensation is fixed at $1500 for the entirety of the contract. We are ideally searching to develop an ongoing relationship with the successful candidate in which this summer contract is reoccurring on a yearly basis. Intern in the English language summer program (part-time) July and August - Montreal

Under the supervision of the program coordinator, the intern is responsible for the on-site implementation of the summer language course program in Montreal. The main responsibility of the intern is to work jointly with our partner at Vanier College to support international students during their month-long stay in Canada. The intern will act as the AFS representative and will be responsible for organizing and carrying out activities with young people throughout the program. The intern will also have to support the program coordinator in certain administrative and logistical tasks in the office before and after the program.

This is an unpaid internship, however, AFS Interculture Canada will provide a stipend and compensate for the costs of public transportation. AFS Interculture Canada will pay the costs related to activities with students during the program.

The intern will work from the office in the mornings and facilitate activities in the afternoons. The length of the internship is from July 2nd, 2020 until August 31st, 2020, inclusively.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the students attend all classes and scheduled activities

  • Facilitate intercultural orientations and activities with students
  • Offer support and counselling to international students in partnership with Vanier College
  • Ensure good logistics of scheduled events

  • Help with student orientation logistics
