Digital exchanges

A Virtual Journey
Digital Exchanges create exciting learning events for students. Unlike a traditional exchange, a Digital Exchange does not involve travel but rather, a virtual journey. With the Global Nomads Group, a like minded organization, AFS piloted its first such Digital Exchange through a 90 minute videoconference between two classes in Colombia and Panamá back in September 2003. The event was a great success and in 2004 more AFS Partner organizations will get involved.

Curriculum – Process
Each Digital Exchange program has a curriculum featuring intercultural learning modules as well as special curricula based on issues relevant to the participants. The participating classes will have a virtual meeting via videoconference to discuss issues that arose during their curriculum lessons as well as to ask one another questions. Other people have the opportunity to watch the Digital Exchange via the web.

Get Involved!
Digital Exchange is a dynamic new way to cross borders and encounter new cultures from the comfort of your own classroom. Contact AFS Interculture Canada office to find out about upcoming Digital Exchange opportunities.
